VASPS, ASPS Oppose New Legislation

Governor Northam enacted legislation that decreases the time nurse practioners must spend in collaborative agreements, prior to independent practice, from five years of training to two; however, the law will expire on July 1, 2022.

The Virginia Society of Plastic Surgeons, in conjunction with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, continually opposed this bill at each opportunity throughout the 2021 legislative session and will continue to oppose any future attempts to make it permanent.
