Governor Northam's Executive Order 72 Amendments
AMENDMENTS
- Amendments 5, 6, and 7 to Executive Order 72
AMENDMENT 5 – EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY AS OF 04-21-2021
Restaurants
- Restaurants, breweries and wineries may not sell alcoholic beverages for onsite consumption between the hours of 12:00AM and 5:00AM.
- Alcoholic beverages may still be sold via delivery or takeout.
- Private bookings limited to 100 people outdoors, 50 people indoors.
- Parties must be separated by at least 6 feet.
- Employees must wear face coverings.
Gyms and Exercise Facilities
- Must operate at 75% occupancy, with a maximum of 50 people indoors, 100 outdoors.
- Employees and patrons must wear face coverings.
- Parties must remain 10 feet apart.
Entertainment Facilities
- Must operate at or below 30% occupancy, with a limit of 500 people.
- Face coverings are required.
- Parties must remain 6 feet apart.
Recreational Sports (Spectators)
- Indoor sports may have spectators at 30% occupancy, or 100 people per field or court.
- Outdoor sports may also have spectators at 30% occupancy, with 500 people per field or court.
AMENDMENT 6 – EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY AS OF 04-29-2021
- Regulations for restaurants and exercise facilities remain consistent with Amendment 5.
Entertainment Facilities
- Occupancy limits for indoor facilities have increased to 500 people, or 30% capacity.
- Face coverings are still required for all patrons.
Recreational Sports (Spectators)
- Indoor facilities may have 30% capacity, or 100 people per field or court.
- Outdoor facilities can increase occupancy to 1000 people per field.
- Face coverings are still required for all spectators.
Public and Private Social Gatherings
- Both public and private gatherings are limited to 50 people indoors, 100 people outdoors, with the following exceptions:
- Religious gatherings with marked, distanced seating and use of face coverings
- Instructional settings
- Graduation ceremonies
- School performances
AMENDMENT 7 – EFFECTIVE AS OF 05-15-2021
Restaurants
- Occupancy limits will increase to 100 people indoors, 250 outdoors.
- Other restrictions remain the same.
Exercise Facilities
- Occupancy limits increase to 100 people indoors, 250 outdoors.
- Other restrictions remain the same.
Recreational Sports (Spectators)
- Venues may operate at 50% occupancy, with up to 1000 people per field or entertainment space.
Masks/Face Coverings
- Face coverings are still required both indoors and outdoors, in public settings.
